A man called George Pickering knew he can prove his son isn’t brain dead; he only needed a couple more hours to prove they don’t need to remove life support.
A young man named George Pickering II was officially declared “brain dead” by the hospital doctors where he was treated at the time. The utterly hard decision to pull the plug from her son’s life support device fell onto his mother.
Mother was certain that pulling the plug was the right choice, however George II’s father felt he wasn’t ready to let his son go. He was certain George Jr. is alive and still has life in him, but his doctors gave a green light to a procedure called “terminal wean” in which they would slowly remove his life support until his body shuts down.
“I felt hopeless. They were moving too fast. The hospital, the nurses, the doctors,” George senior insisted.
